Operating at that scale, the real complexity isn’t in the product. It’s in the structures behind it. Thousands of contracts running in parallel. Multiple languages. Different legal systems. Country subsidiaries with their own requirements. And an indirect procurement function juggling IT service providers, software, marketing, and framework agreements all at once.
In short: an environment where professional contract management isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s an operational necessity.
Scaling requires structure
When Jürgen Hofmann set out to build the indirect procurement function at Conrad, the strategic goal was clear: establish a working, scalable contract management system for a company active in 17 European markets and steadily growing its B2B business.
The existing tools (an e-signature solution, a separate legal tool, Google Sheets, Docs, and email) each served their individual purpose. But together, they created friction: broken workflows, manual handoffs, and a persistent lack of visibility into deadlines and contract status.
I needed a central overview of all contracts: trackable, cross-lingual, and scalable for our continued growth.

This wasn’t a firefighting exercise. It was the deliberate evolution of a function that had to keep pace with the business.
Central, structured, scalable
Hofmann evaluated several systems. In the end, what tipped the scales was the combination of contract analysis quality, multilingual support, and the ability to map the entire contract lifecycle from drafting through negotiation to signature, within a single platform.

From pilot to company-wide standard
What started as a pilot in indirect procurement expanded within a year to become the standard for 100 users across 50 teams, including IT, marketing, sales, and the subsidiaries in Austria and Switzerland.
The reason: once other departments saw how smoothly the process worked, interest was immediate. No top-down rollout, no mandates. The solution sold itself through sheer practicality.
It took on a life of its own. More and more departments wanted access to fynk because they saw how easy it made things.

Efficiency through clear processes
One of the biggest levers: the interplay between playbooks and templates. Together with the legal department, Hofmann built a modular system with separate building blocks for confidentiality, services, and data protection that run in parallel across a contract and automatically flag critical clauses.
For the legal team, this means targeted reviews instead of full audits. For business units, it means greater autonomy in drafting contracts, within pre-approved templates with clearly defined parameters for customization.
If I have templates where only certain fields can be changed, I no longer need to run everything through the legal process. That takes pressure off both sides.
