Methodology

How the rankings are made.

Every guide follows the same method, so a ranking in one can be read against a ranking in another. If a guide cannot explain why a product placed where it did, it is not published.

Every claim comes from the vendor’s own pages.

Each product is assessed against the same list of capabilities, using its public pricing, product, documentation and trust pages. Every claim in the tables is backed by a quote from one of those pages. Where a vendor does not publish something, the cell stays empty rather than being guessed.

Weights are published and add up to 100.

Each guide lists its scoring criteria and what each one is worth. Weights can differ between guides, because what matters to a small legal team is not what matters to an enterprise procurement function. A guide for a specific team re-weights the criteria and re-ranks the list rather than reprinting the category order.

Prices come with a source and a date.

Every price records where it came from and when it was last checked, in the references at the foot of each guide. Prices are for the plan a typical team would buy, not the cheapest tier. Where a vendor only quotes on request, the guide says so instead of estimating.

Guides are re-checked, not just published.

Features ship and prices change. Claims are re-checked regularly, and the date of the last review is shown at the top of each guide so you can judge how current it is.
